The adidas ZX series is a family of running silhouettes launched in 1984. The line featured adidas's new Torsion technology — a plastic support bar between the heel and forefoot that stabilized the midfoot during running — and expanded through ZX 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, and eventually the iconic ZX 8000. The ZX line became one of adidas's most celebrated running categories of the 1980s and early 1990s.
