The Air Jordan 10 released in 1994 during Michael Jordan's retirement — but unlike the AJ9, MJ returned to basketball in March 1995 and did wear the AJ10 for the final portion of that regular season. Its most iconic detail sits on the outsole: a list of Jordan's career achievements through 1994 etched into the rubber.
Tinker Hatfield designed the AJ10 as a tribute to Jordan's career up to that point, anticipating it might be the final Jordan ever released. The outsole achievements list includes:
- Rookie of the Year (1985)
- Defensive Player of the Year (1988)
- MVP (1988, 1991, 1992)
- 7× scoring champion (1987-1993)
- 3× NBA champion (1991, 1992, 1993)
The AJ10 also marked the debut of city-specific PE (player exclusive) colorways — Jordan Brand released team-colored AJ10s for ten different NBA cities, a marketing strategy that tied the retiring legend to the league's broader player roster.
MJ wore the AJ10 for the final 17 games of the 1994-95 regular season after his March 18, 1995 return, though he switched to the AJ11 for the playoffs.
