adidas Originals has unveiled a special project this week, teaming up with a local football club, FC Union Berlin, for a limited-edition release of the ZX 8000 in celebration of both their partnership and the club’s fifty-five-year history.

adidas’ relationship with the sport of football dates back to the brand’s origins in 1949, when founder Adi Dassler debuted the first adidas football boot. Since then, the Brand with the Three Stripes has expanded to provide gear for nearly every sport under the sun, though the football pitch remains one of its premier sources of inspiration. This week, the Three Stripes unveiled a new project with one of its most recent professional club partners, Germany’s FC Union Berlin, celebrating their new partnership as well as fifty-five years of the Club with a limited-edition release of the ZX 8000. Limited to just 1,966 pairs in honor of Union Berlin’s founding year, this ZX 8000 begins with a plain white mesh base layer, reinforced by light grey nubuck overlays. The shoe’s Three Stripes are cast in red with yellow accents, while bright red tones also appear on the laces, lacing system, and toe box. The inner lining come in teal, while oversized UNION branding can be seen underneath the ZX 8000’s signature heel counter.

adidas Originals’ limited edition take on the ZX 8000 for FC Union Berlin has been scheduled to release this week, on April 21st, 2021. Limited to just 1,966 pairs, they will be available via the adidas Confirmed app in Europe only, with a price tag of approximately $150.
