The adidas Equipment line has been dormant for the past few years, since the line’s rebirth back in 2015. Now, the Three Stripes are gearing up to celebrate thirty years of EQT, kicking things off with sixteen special projects with partners around the world.

The adidas Equipment family first debuted in 1991, designed by Peter Moore and Rob Strasser, with the intended purpose of stripping back excess materials and arts from the brand’s running shoes, instead offering runners exactly what they needed and nothing more. The tagline for the Equipment lineup encapsulated this idea perfectly, stating that EQT was “Everything that is essential, nothing that is not.”  Soon, the new series of footwear grew wider and wider, adding dozens of silhouettes that ranged from walking shoes to basketball sneakers and just about everything in between, as well as becoming a fan-favorite among adidas fans for their everyday applications. To this day, the EQT family still informs much of adidas’ designs, so it comes as no surprise that the Three Stripes are celebrating EQT’s thirtieth anniversary with some special releases. Featuring sixteen total styles, adidas has tapped a number of their high profile collaborators to give their takes on one of four EQT silhouettes, the classic Running Support 93, CSG Equipment 91, Equipment Prototype (a brand new silhouette for 2021), and the Equipment Race Walk from 1991. Collaborators include the likes of Hanon, Footpatrol, atmos, mita Sneakers, Extra Butter, Overkill, and many more. Head over to adidas’ Life Needs Equipment minisite for a better look at the whole collection, as well as in-depth interviews with the designers behind each shoe.
