The adidas Ultraboost is back with another iteration for the coming new year. According to some early images of a leaked shoe, the Three Stripes are working on the next iteration of their Ultraboost running franchise, appropriately named 2020.

The Ultraboost 2020 is coming. After adidas debuted their complete overhaul of the franchise at the top of this year, the running world is waiting for the next entry in the series. This week, we’ve got an early look at the at the upcoming model, ahead of the brand’s planned rollout. The new version closely resembles the same shape of the 2019 model, with many new additions to the construction that the adidas Running team have been working in the past year. The new and improved Ultraboost 2020 features a refined Primeknit upper, with looser knitting around the toe box for extra breathability and flexibility. In place of a traditional mudguard, and expanding on the thick, sturdy knit pattern they used in this year’s model, the edges of the forefoot feature rounded rectangles sewn from a thicker thread for more support. The cage of the shoe also appears to be thicker around the edges, and removes the raised three stripes from before. Finally, the heel is constructed from a padded stretch fabric, adding onto the plush support that we were so fond of in the 2019 version. As an added bonus, the new images show a special-edition Ultraboost 2020, that appears to somehow be connected to the International Space Station, due to a logo on the tongue and the color changing Boost midsole.

adidas has yet to make any comment in regards to the release date of the possible next Ultraboost silhouette, though they would obviously be expected to release sometime next year. However, given the history of the franchise, we can expect to see them first late this year, likely with a price tag of $180.
