In 2016, adidas announced a new partnership with Parley For The Oceans, a group dedicated to removing waste from the biggest biosphere. This month, the duo will venture into the NMD family with the Parley x adidas NMD City Sock 1.
adidas and Parley For The Oceans have teamed up to create one of the most environmentally friendly technologies in footwear. Parley’s mission is to help make the ocean a cleaner place because it is the largest environment on our planet, and our waste negatively affects the natural ecosystem. Volunteers for their cause travel around the world coordinating plastic recovery missions which remove large amounts of plastic water bottles and old fishing nets from the ocean. Working with adidas, Parley then recycles and refines the plastic, stretching it into knittable yarn that first appeared in just shoes, but now is utilized in workout apparel and casual wear. Earlier this month, after almost a year of early images and rumors, the Parley x adidas NMD_CS1 launched secretly on the brand’s website. The shoe was available to purchase for just over a week before being removed from the site and given a proper rollout with a new release date. The latest Parley x adidas sneaker features a relatively simple colorway, utilizing the signature Parley Blue in the upper, paired with black to highlight the City Sock 1’s textured Primeknit. The Boost midsole comes in plain white to keep the look of past Parley shoes.
PARLEY X ADIDAS NMD CITY SOCK 1 RELEASE INFORMATION
The Parley x adidas NMD City Sock 1 is now set to release on March 30th, 2018. The environmentally conscious shoes will retail for $220, the current standard for the expensive process of turning plastic into knit materials. This time around, these beautiful blue City Sock sneakers will be available from adidas’ website and select retailers.
