0

Asics has found yet another interesting collaborator to create their take on one of the Japanese footwear brand’s iconic silhouette. Next year, Jean Touitou’s A.P.C. label will release their first Asics collaboration, featuring the GEL-Kayano 14.

Devout followers of the world of fashion will undoubtedly recognize the name A.P.C., the brand founded in 1987 by Jean Touitou known for their raw Japanese denim bottoms. The label has been supplying fans with high-end basics for over three decades now, and even started their own in-house footwear line after their work with Nike came to an end in the early 2010s. This week, the first images of a new collaboration surfaced online, seeing A.P.C. team up with Asics.

A.P.C. is back with their first collaboration with a major sneaker brand in years, after their Nike team-ups ended in 2011. This time, they’ve sought out Asics, to give their take on the brand’s popular GEL-Kayano 14 retro. In classic A.P.C. fashion, the shoe gets a simple, neutral color scheme, with a mix of white and cream shades for the upper. Metallic silver accents are sprinkled around the shoe, with a mirror chrome finish on the Asics stripes to complete the look.

Spring is just around the corner, which means sneaker brands are pivoting back to brighter, more colorful styles for their new seasonal releases. New Balance always brings plenty of heat in this manner, dressing up their in-line offerings with fresh colors. This year, the 990v6 continues to be a staple of their Made in USA offerings, with new pairs coming our way very soon.

This week, the first early in-hand photos of a fresh take on the 990v6 have come across our screens. New Balance Updates the 9060 With a New Caged Style

New Balance’s 9060 has been around for a few years now, and has remained a popular piece of the brand’s catalog since its initial wave of hype. This season, they are introducing a new Caged version, coming soon in “Blue Ice”.

The 9060 from New Balance was first introduced by the New England brand back in 2022. The shoe was specifically designed for lifestyle wear, and aimed to bridge modern technologies with the brand’s retro styling. While the upper was minimal and a standard-looking NB shoe, the chunky new sole unit was a fresh take on footwear design, and jam-packed with their signature Abzorb cushioning.

This year, New Balance has a new update to the 9060, which ditches the typical construction of the upper for a more modern look. The Caged variant removes most of the sewn-in panels, and uses fused overlays with the mesh base for a sleek new look. On top of that, a molded plastic cage has been added, which extends all the way from the heels to the toes, and makes up the shoe’s lacing system. Gradient colors are applied to this piece, seen here in an icy blue and black color scheme.

NEW BALANCE 9060 CAGED “BLUE ICE” RELEASE INFORMATION

New Balance’s freshly updated look for the 9060 has not been given a release date yet, but will land on shelves sometime in Spring 2025. Seen here in a cold “Blue Ice” color scheme, the new Caged edition will be available both from the brand’s website and select retailers for $150.

adidas’ “Carbon” Intimidation Low is Available Now

0

Late last year, adidas teamed up with Packer for a special-edition release of a surprise retro; the FYW Intimidation Low. Now, the Three Stripes is prepping for their first in-line releases of the 1999 basketball shoe.

adidas’ Feet You Wear line has seen a lot of love from the brand in the last six years. The line was first revived and revamped into Boost You Wear, which simply swapped out the cushioning elements of the original design for their extremely popular Boost tech. Then, they began to release proper retros of running and basketball shoes featuring the FYW, which continues this year with the Intimidation.

Originally crafted in 1999, the adidas Intimidation Low is back for its first-ever retro in 2025. After the excellent duo of Packer colorways landed in December, we have our first look at in-line styles for the model, coming soon. One pair is dressed entirely in Core Black with a tonal Carbon accent, while the other comes in white with some bold Royal Blue tones.

PAN Records x Nike Air 180 Releases in April

Nike appears to be building a string of new releases centered around record labels as collaborative partners. This week, Berlin’s PAN Records revealed their take on the Air 180 retro, coming in April.

Last month, Nike teamed up with London-based record label Apron to release two special-edition styles of the Air 180. What seemed like a one-off collaboration at the time appears to have been the beginning of a globe-trotting string of releases, as another pair of the 180 has surfaced this week from Berlin’s PAN Records. Two releases back to back featuring record labels and the Air 180 seems to be building towards a larger goal.

Nike teaming up with smaller, local record labels is an interesting move from the sneaker giant, and one that is paying off well so far with the Apron release. PAN’s take on the 180 is much darker, and seems to pay homage to Berlin’s fashion culture. The shoe features a soft, twill-like textile for the upper, all in black, with a taped mudguard wrapping around the perimeter. PAN’s logo appears on the insoles, outsoles, and packaging, while an XKZ embroidery on the tongue completes the look.

PAN RECORDS X NIKE AIR 180 RELEASE INFORMATION

The next Nike Air 180 release from a record label, this time Berlin’s PAN Records, has been scheduled to release next week, on April 12th, 2025. The blacked out pair of the 180 with a taped mudguard and PAN’s logo will be available through the label, with an expected price tag of $150.

adidas’ Aruku Runner Gets a Premium Upgrade for Spring 2025

0

This season, adidas is ramping up their releases of the Aruku, a new runner from the Three Stripes with aggressive styling and a chunky midsole. Today, a new Premium edition pack has surfaced, coming soon.

adidas firs introduced their Aruku silhouette in Fall 2024, after teasing the model on the feet of influencers and artists over the Summer. The model’s name comes from the Japanese verb “to walk”, firmly presenting the new style as a casual, everyday wear offering. The midsole emphasizes this through its rocker shape, which helps propel you forward in motion, and the new SwirlFoam cushioning that spans the entire sole. Pair this with the aggressive, layered upper and we’ve got a wild new model.

The Aruku made a big splash this week as adidas unleashed a wide rang of colors to beef up their offerings of the new shoe. Additionally, we have an early look at a new Premium edition of the shoe, which swaps out some of the synthetic materials for a soft suede outer shell. Paired with two different meshes and retaining some of the taped panelling, the new Aruku PRM will come in two colors at launch; Carbon black and Off-White.

ADIDAS ARUKU PREMIUM PACK RELEASE INFORMATION

adidas’ new Aruku runner is getting its premium upgrade sometime in Spring 2025, though no date has been set yet. Coming in two colorways, a Carbon black edition and an off-white style, both of which will be available from both adidas and select retailers for $140 each.

Nike .SWOOSH Air Max 1 “Big Head Mode” Releasing April 2025

Nike’s .SWOOSH label, created to merge the worlds of footwear and video games, has another edition of the Air Max 1 on the way. The “Big Head Mode” style pays homage to the GoldenEye game’s secret feature.

Nike’s .SWOOSH label kicked off about a year ago, starting with the release of the “404 Error” Air Force 1. In Fall 2024, they introduced a new take on the Air Max 1, dubbed Poly, which simplified the shoe’s design to appear like a retro low-polygon video game. The sublabel has added more styles to their catalog in more recent months, and have turned to retro video games as the main source of inspiration for each new release.

This week, the “Big Head Origins” AM1 is finally releasing, and already we have an early look at a new colorway which acts as a follow up to the current drop. The new pair is inspired by GoldenEye 007’s Big Head Mode cheat code, which gave characters large heads and longer arms, and was formally known as the Donkey Kong Mode. The pair features a white and black color scheme with metallic gold accents for the tongues, laces, and mini Swooshes, along with some details inspired by the HUD in the classic game.

NIKE .SWOOSH AIR MAX 1 “BIG HEAD MODE” RELEASE INFORMATION

The next release of the Air Max 1 from Nike’s .SWOOSH label has not been announced for release yet, and is currently only available in Fortnite. The “Big Head Mode” pair in black, white, and gold is a nod to the classic 007 Goldeneye game, and will be available exclusively through Nike channels for $160.

size? and adidas Are Rewinding the Trimm Star “VHS” Pack

size? always has some fun projects up their sleeves, and this week they’ve unveiled one of their forthcoming releases for 2025. Teaming up with adidas, the two are returning to their “VHS” Trimm Star for an updated two-pack release.

U.K. retailer size? might be one of the most prolific collaborators in the world of footwear, constantly releasing new projects from a huge array of footwear brands. One of their most consistent partnerships is with adidas, frequently dropping special colorways of some iconic trainers. This week, they’ve unveiled an update to the 2018 “VHS” Trimm Star, coming soon.

The original VHS release of the Trimm Star featured just one pair of shoes, casting the shoe in a white leather upper with gum soles and black heels. The new release runs that same color blocking back, but swaps out the yellow, orange, and purple stripes for red, green, and blue. Those former color accents are now applied to the additional black suede pair, completing the new pack.

The Air Jordan 1 Low gets a New “Bio Hack” Palette for 2025

Nike’s Bio Hack colorways originated back in 2005 though in recent years the Swoosh has revisited the colorful palette a handful of times. This season, the Air Jordan 1 Low has surfaced in a new update, coming soon.

In 2005, during the early days of the modern sneaker collaboration, Undefeated teamed up with Nike to create their spin on the Dunk High. Taking inspiration from colors they found around Tokyo, Japan, the Bio Hack style was born. The UNDFTD shoe became a grail for many collectors, but sat dormant for the next fifteen years, until Jordan Brand introduced a fresh take on the palette in 2020.

2020’s version of the Bio Hack color scheme was not a carbon copy of the original, instead altering some shades for a new vivid look. This year’s Air Jordan 1 Low does the same featuring a close color scheme to the original, but not exact. The new look features a pastel pink suede for the toes, black for the midfoot, and Viotech Purple for the heels. Overlays are added in a washed brown hue, while golden tongues and lime green midsoles complete the look.

AIR JORDAN 1 LOW “BIO HACK” 2025 RELEASE INFORMATION

Jordan Brand’s next release of a “Bio Hack” color scheme has not been announced yet, but is currently expected for a Fall 2025 release. Applying the colorful style to the standard Air Jordan 1 Low, pairs will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers, with an anticipated price tag of $125.

Nike Adds New Mini Swooshes to a “Gorge Green” Dunk Low

With Nike working on winding down Dunk releases, there are still some leftover styles from the old regime on the way. This week, we have an early look at a new “Gorge Green” pair, featuring a new golden mini Swoosh accent.

Nike’s top leadership changed hands in Fall 2024, transferring power from John Donahoe to Elliot Hill. The former was the man behind the explosion of releases for highly sought-after models in recent years, specifically the Dunk Low and Air Jordan 1 High. The Dunk has dropped in hundreds of colors in the last five years, and Nike recently announced they would be scaling that back significantly going forward.

Despite this claim, there are still plenty of Dunk releases already produced in the last year that will make their way to shelves in 2025. This week, we’ve spotted a new pair that revisits the beloved mini Swoosh branding, giving it a new look and placement on the iconic shoe. Cast in a mix of white leather and gorge green suede overlays, this pair adds its metallic gold Swoosh to the outer heels of the shoe, on top of the Swoosh that is covered by the shoe’s rear panel.

NIKE DUNK LOW “GORGE GREEN” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s latest new style for their Dunk Low has not been officially announced yet, but is expected to release sometime in Summer 2025. The suede Gorge Green style with a golden mini Swoosh accent will be available from both Nike and select retailers for an expected $125.
