New Balance recently introduced 1988’s 996 running shoe to their Made in USA series, debuting back in March. This week, a ‘Pale Yellow’ version helps finish off Season 3 of the brand’s seasonal collections.
New Balance’s retro 996 silhouette made a surprise return early this year, dropping in a duo of new colorways for their Grey Day celebration in May, as well as a simple blue look from the Made in USA line. Then, the 1988 running shoe went on to join the ongoing Made in USA Seasonal series, under creative direction from Teddy Santis. This week the Season 3 collection is coming to a close, with ‘Pale Yellow’ colorways of the 990v6 and 996 as the last pairs to release. The 996 is constructed from matching shades of yellow for the mesh base and nubuck overlays, with a hint of tan peaking through in the heels. Forest green accents decorate the ‘N’ logos and midsoles, while black heel tabs complete the look.
