New Balance MADE is the premium sub-line containing New Balance sneakers manufactured in the United States and United Kingdom. Where most athletic footwear brands manufacture exclusively in Asia, New Balance operates five factories in Maine and Massachusetts plus one in Flimby, England — and these factories produce the MADE line.
What qualifies for MADE
To earn the "Made in USA" or "Made in UK" label, shoes must contain a minimum percentage of domestic parts and assembly (70%+ domestic content for the USA label, per Federal Trade Commission guidelines). New Balance voluntarily labels these premium products to differentiate them from Vietnam-manufactured mainline releases.

Teddy Santis and the modern era
In 2021, New Balance appointed Teddy Santis — founder of Aimé Leon Dore — as Creative Director for the Made in USA line. His tenure has produced some of the brand's most celebrated releases: the ALD 990v3 "Varsity" series, ALD 993 "Workwear," and a new design direction emphasizing elegance over pure heritage. Sales of Made in USA product have reportedly tripled since his arrival.
Pricing
Made in USA releases retail at $185-$220 for standard 990/992/993 configurations. Made in UK 991s price at $200-$240. Collaborative Made product (ALD, JJJJound, Joe Freshgoods) typically retails at $200-$250 and resells at 2-4x retail.
