Hyke and adidas are not exactly new partners, but it has been a while since their last collection. Now, the two brands are teaming up once more for another collection of eccentric womenswear in Hyke’s artistic style.

Founded as Runway in 2005 by Japanese designers Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Ode, it wasn’t until 2013 that the brand name HYKE would appear on their products during their first show in nearly four years. Since then, the two leads have been creating avant gardé womenswear with a heavy emphasis on art, and what it can bring to fashion. In 2015, Hyke partnered with adidas Originals for the first collaboration, creating a simple collection of basics with plenty of Originals branding. Now, five years and several collections later, the two are reuniting for one of their biggest drops yet.

The HYKE x adidas SS20 collection is highlighted by the Ultraboost, but not the current-day version you might expect. Instead, Hyke is throwing it back to 2017, when the adidas Running team first introducted the official Laceless Ultraboost, removing the plastic cages and threading laces through the Primeknit upper. For their latest project, Hyke takes it one step further, removing the laces entirely in favor of a criss-crossing elastic strap locked in place by a standard suspender clip. The Hyke Ultraboost laceless will come in three colorways, black, white, and tan, each with a black midfoot strap and speckled midsoles and heel cups.
