Last month, we got an early preview of a potential new adidas sneaker for James Harden. Many questioned the early production, but now it all makes sense. Introducing the Harden x adidas “MVP” collection, available now exclusively from adidas.

It’s official: James Harden was the Most Valuable Player in the NBA this year. However, we are not the first to know. Apparently, adidas knew a month ago that their signature athlete would be blessed with the league’s highest honor. And to celebrate, the pair are unleashing a trio of new sneakers in honor of Harden’s latest accomplishment. The new collection includes the Harden Vol. 2, Vol 2 Lifestyle, and B/E X, which stands for Brothers Through Everything. The three pairs are each built for a different purpose, with materials and construction made to be flexible. Despite these differences, the three celebratory versions come in the same black colorway with blue, gold, and white accents. Finally, each of the limited pairs comes with an MVP dubrae at the base of the laces.

The first appearance of this collection was a bit of a mystery. Late last month, leak accounts on Instagram shared in-hand images of the new Brothers Through Everything silhouette, just a few weeks ahead of its debut. The leak shocked sneakerheads, as the NBA was still weeks away from announcing Harden as the MVP, and it seems as though adidas knew something we didn’t. While the process of designing and producing a shoe grows shorter with each month, the amount of time the Three Stripes would have needed to prepare two models and one special-edition colorway is much larger than they appear to have had. Nevertheless, they pulled it off, and James Harden is our MVP.
