adidas’ top-tier Consortium division has been seeking out new fashion designers to partner up with for special projects. This week, the honor goes to Grace Wales Bonner of Britain, who reworks the Samba and SL72 in premium styles, coming soon.

adidas’ massive archives are ripe for new takes on old classics and reinterpretations from outside perspectives, something the Originals and Consortium teams have been working hard on over the past few years. Bringing in collaborators from around the world, adidas’ special-edition projects have grown more and more intricate with each release. This week this string of hot product continues with a new collaboration with British fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, who joins the Thre Stripes to deliver her take on the classic Samba and SL72. The Samba, easily the more famous of the pair, comes in two forms, one constructed entirely from inky black suede and nubuck with stitched white detailing, and the second in a natural white woven build, featuring brown suede overlays. The SL72 is much simpler, retaining the shoe’s original nylon and suede construction, in your choice of either burgundy and orange or green with brown accents.
