The Game of Thrones x adidas Ultra Boost series is a well-known project by now, though we have yet to see many of the pairs. This week, we have a closer look at the dragon-themed Targaryen pair, set to drop in 2019.
Collaboration is coming. Earlier this year, the YeezyMafia took to Twitter to announce a frankly shocking, yet welcome collaboration with adidas. Next year, HBO’s smash-hit Game of Thrones will give their take on the several wildly popular adidas footwear silhouettes. This announcement comes as such a surprise because it feels very strange for a TV show of this caliber that hardly makes its own merchandise to be interested in such a high-profile collaboration. However, it is very fitting. Next year, GoT’s eight-season run on HBO is coming to a close, and many fans are agonizing over what will happen to their favorite characters. While the leak of a project from Thrones and adidas doesn’t give us any answers, it certainly gives us something to look forward to as the final season quickly approaches.
This week, well-known leak account YankeeKicks took to Instagram to share some close-up shots of a Targaryen Ultra Boost set to release next year. Themed after the families legendary dragons, this pair begins with a black Primeknit upper, before transitioning to a fiery red and orange pattern in the toe box. The rest of the shoe is blacked out to complete the look, while red “Fire & Blood” tags take over the heels.

With the appearance of official images on the adidas website, we also have a preliminary release date of February 7th, 2019 for the Game of Thrones collection. Pairs are expected to retail for above the usual $180 price, though this remains to be seen.
