adidas’ ever-growing list of collaborators has added one more fashion label to their arsenal this week. During a 2020 preview, Britain’s own Craig Green showed off four unique new colorways of the adidas Kamanda, coming this Spring.

The adidas Kamanda first made its debut from the Three Stripes almost a year ago, heading into the Summer of 2018. Introduced as a “terrace trainer”, the Kamanda took heavy inspiration from adidas’ long line of solid ground soccer boots and their eventual transition into the lifestyle category. The striking look of the Kamanda can largely be attributed to the new tooling designed specifically for the shoe, which saw the textured outsole wrapping up around the toe and heel of the shoe for extra support. Now, adidas has handed the reigns of the Kamanda over to British fashion designer Craig Green as he takes the sleek silhouette a few steps further.

Craig Green’s take, or takes, on the adidas Kamanda are almost unlike anything we’ve seen in footwear in recent years. First off, the collaboration itself is unique in that Green will be rehauling the Kamanda in four different styles, instead of possibly releasing different colorways of four different silhouettes. Then, there’s the look. Three of these Kamandas appear to be constructed from a thin, translucent PVC-like material, though we assume it is much more flexible and breathable than molded plastic. Decorated in shades of grey, neon green, and vibrant blue, these few colorways also rehash the upper of the Kamanda, adding and removing panels for different looks. Finally, the fourth pair in the collection borrows the Kamanda’s unique textured outsole, applying the same ribbed look across the entirety of the shoe.

The new project from British designer Craig Green and adidas have not yet been announced for release, though it is expected to be just a part of the label’s Spring 2020 collection next June. Prices for the four highly unique Kamandas will likely rise well above their usual $130, and release in limited numbers from adidas’ most fashion-savvy retail partners. UPDATE (6/26/20): adidas and Craig Green have finally announced the release of their extensive Kamanda-based capsule collection. Containing a new total of 7 silhouettes and colorways, the Kontuur collection will be available next week, on July 2nd, 2020, with prices ranging from $250 to $300.
