Parley and adidas are the pioneers of making sneakers from recycled materials, dating back to their first UltraBoost in 2015. Now, the two have cooked up a unique take on the classic ZX 8000, launching tomorrow.

Parley for the Oceans and adidas originally teamed up back in 2015, paving the way for the sneaker industry to adopt more sustainable materials and practices. Since then, the two partners have only grown closer, bringing their recycled woven materials into the fold of nearly every market the Three Stripes inhabits, from sneakers to clothing to athletic accessories. This week, the two are releasing their latest sneakers featuring recycled parts, this time highlighting the beloved retro 80s adidas ZX 8000 runner. The Parley edition is unique from other recent ZX8k releases we’ve seen, reconstructing the panelling at the toe box for a unique new look. The shoe is cast almost entirely in white, with a single black panel sticking out from the quarter panels. Additionally, this pair contains a rather high ratio of Parley ocean plastic – at least 50% – while the rest of the yarns used are made from other recycled resources.
