adidas’ classic ZX 8000 has been a staple of the brand’s arsenal since the retro running series returned in force last year. This week, we have an early look at a new special-edition colorway coming soon, casting the ’80s runner in a “Frozen-Lemonade”-themed look.
Released in 1986, and discontinued in 1989, the ZX line was built to provide runners with lightweight, durable shoes that featured flexible and adaptive soles. The franchise was a massive success, not only from a technology standpoint but from a design perspective, as fans of adidas flocked to the ZX family for their casual-wear sneakers. Now an all-time favorite from the adidas archives, the ZX family returned last year, spearheaded by the pivotal ZX 8000. The retro release of the ZX 8k included a hidden upgrade to the midsole, which now contains an encapsulated Boost section in the midfoot and heel of new pairs. This week, we have an early look at an upcoming limited-edition release of the ZX 8000, decked out in a “Frozen Lemonade”-inspired colorway, complete with recipes printed on the sockliner in preparation for hot sunny days. The color scheme is simple, featuring a white mesh base with suede overlays in yellow and adidas’ signature Semi-Frozen Yellow. The runner’s heel counters, lacing system, and tongue tag come in green, along with other small accents around the shoe.
