The adidas ZX 8000 is really back, and better than ever. When the Three Stripes relaunched the silhouette last year, they’d already nailed the shape and feel. Now, with the addition of Boost and exciting new colorways, there is plenty to look forward to from ZX this year.

Released in 1986, and discontinued in 1989, the ZX line was built to provide runners with lightweight, durable shoes that featured flexible and adaptive soles. The franchise was a massive success, not only from a technology standpoint but from a design perspective, as fans of adidas flocked to the ZX family for their casual-wear sneakers. Now an all-time favorite from the adidas archives, the ZX family returned last year, spearheaded by the pivotal ZX 8000. This week, the 8000 surfaced in a luxurious new color scheme, set to release sometime in the coming weeks. The latest version rebuilds the layered upper in solid black suede hiding most of the stitching and overlays, but still providing plenty of texture for the shoe. The signature stripes on either side appear to be made from nylon webbing, while a splash of white leather on the heel counter completes the look.
