The adidas Ultra Boost DNA continues to act as the brand’s premier canvas for experimentation. This week, we have an early look at a new hybrid version, combining elements of the ClimaCool 2 for a sleek new design.

adidas’ ClimaCool shoes from the early 2000s are making a comeback. Well, sort of. While we have seen several different iterations of ClimaCool sneakers in recent years, starting with a retro release of the original in 2017 shortly followed by a new, modernized version, they have since disappeared from the Three Stripes lineup, until now. In recent months, we have seen two colorways of a new Ultra Boost DNA CC_2 silhouette, adding elements from adidas’ ClimaCool 2 to the upper of an Ultra Boost DNA for a highly breathable new take on the immensely popular running shoes. The DNA CC_2 borrows the ClimaCool 2’s arching support pieces on either side of the shoe, reformatting it to create the Ultra Boost’s signature cage piece, as well as a mix of mesh and Primeknit pieces for the upper for optimal airflow. The latest version of the DNA CC_2 borrows the color scheme from the original ClimaCool shoe, pitting most of the shoe in a mix of grey and white tones, while a black heel counter and red outsole complete the look.
