In February 2013, adidas introduced Boost, a new midsole technology that would propel the Three Stripes to new heights in both the sports and lifestyle worlds. Five years later, adidas is celebrating the popular innovation with a limited edition Ultra Boost.

The upper on this iteration of the Ultra Boost is covered in mostly black Primeknit, loosely speckled with hints of grey. The 3D-printed heelcup on this pair is black to match the upper, while the black support cages are accentuated with grey on the stripes and eyelets. The full-length Boost midsole is presented in it’s standard white state, and is capped off with a black Continental rubber outsole. As a finishing touch, bright yellow adorns the tongue logo, aglets, insoles, and torsion bar to add a pop of color. This black, gray, and yellow color scheme is a direct nod to the Energy Boost and it’s original colorway, the first commercial adidas shoe to feature Boost technology. This is only the beginning of the German sportswear giants’ celebration of Boost, with more limited edition releases expected to drop throughout 2018.
