Earlier this month, adidas debuted their Chinese New Year collection for 2018, a mostly white pack of four shoes. However, a surprise “CNY” Ultra Boost for 2018 released on the same day, prompting a better look before it’s wider release next month.

This year’s Ultra Boost is easily one of the best of the Chinese New Year collection, featuring more depth and color than the rest of the shoes. The upper is constructed from the new Primeknit 4.0 pattern that will grace the Ultra Boost this year, and features a black base highlighted by fiery red and orange threads woven in between. The support pieces on the upper are dyed black to match the knit, rounding out the upper evenly. Instead of the usual adidas Performance branding featured on the tongue, a new “Year of the Dog” motif was created to take it’s place, and represent the specifics of the Chinese holiday. The white Boost midsole is capped off by a bright red outsole, completing a highly unusual, and incredibly good looking “Bred” colorway.
