The adidas Terrex Free Hiker has been making waves amongst fans of the Three Stripes since its debut earlier this year. Built as an all-around trail shoe, the Free Hiker has also gained immense popularity for its comfort in casual wear, which is emphasized by the latest, and brightest colorway yet.

It’s not so hard to see why the Terrex Free Hiker became so popular so fast. In its most basic form, the shoe begins with a high-top, single piece of adidas’ signature Primeknit as the base layer of the upper. Next, the lower edges of the shoe are stiffened and protected by a thin waterproof taping. This helps repel water from the seams of the shoes, as well as keeping as much of your foot as clean and dry as possible. Then, a mudguard and heel counter are added in the form of stiff plastic TPU, reinforcing the inner support of the shoe. The lacing system also uses stiff TPU places to lock into place, while an elastic band stretches around the heel to connect the two, while also providing much-needed support for the Achilles. A Dellinger web-style overlays are added to each of the quarter panels for extra support while still allowing for maximum flexibility. Finally, the adidas Terrex Free Hiker rests on top of a full-length Boost midsole, complimented by an EVA shank for rigidity along the top edge.

adidas Terrex’ latest colorway of the Free Hiker Primeknit launched on August 21st, 2019, and is now available from select retailers like Harvey Nichols, with a wider release expected sometime in the coming weeks. The colorful Primkenit iteration carries the Free Hiker’s usual retail price of $180.
