With the release of The Mandalorian Season 2 just around the corner, it should be no surprise that adidas has a footwear collection ready to accompany it. However, what did surprise us was the inclusion of a Darksaber-inspired Gazelle in the pack. Check it out.
adidas and Star Wars have ramped up their collaborative partnership exponentially in 2020, releasing several collections celebrating everything from the latest film to the 40th anniversary of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Now, as we edge closer to November and the debut of Star Wars: The Mandalorian’s second season, the partners are back with their latest project, this time taking inspiration from the franchise’s first-ever live-action TV show. The collection focuses on the stars of the show, namely Mando himself, Dyn Jarren, as well as The Child, AKA Baby Yoda. The new collection also includes some peripheral-inspired shoes, including Moff Gideon’s mysterious Darksaber that was teased at the end of season 1. Longtime fans of the extended Star Wars universe should be plenty familiar with the 1-of-1 blade, crafted by the first Mandalorian Jedi, and subsequently famously repossessed several times throughout the shoe before landing in their most recent known hands of Moff Gideon. The shoe version of the Darksaber is less limited, taking on a black suede upper with reflective silver heel tabs and stripes to imitate the Darksaber’s blade.
STAR WARS X ADIDAS GAZELLE “DARKSABER” RELEASE INFORMATION
The next collection from adidas and Star Wars, featuring The Mandalorian as inspiration, is scheduled to arrive on shelves next week, on November 4th, 2020, alongside the rest of the “Mandalorian” collection. The blacked-out, reflective-paneled Gazelle will be available from both adidas and select retailers for a price of $100.
