adidas’ Running division has gone in a number of directions with their footwear in recent years, leading to some pretty out-there silhouettes and technologies. This year, the trend continues with the new X9000L4, coming soon.

The upcoming adidas Running X9000L4 model is one of the most aggressive sneakers we’ve seen from the brand in some time. While the German sportswear company has yet to reveal anything official about their latest running shoe, we can certainly take a closer look at some of the available imagery to draw conclusions as to what the X9000L4 is all about. First up, the shape takes some clear inspiration from the Ultraboost, from the knit upper to the exaggerated heel tab and even the plastic heel counter, some elements of the brand’s pivotal running sneaker are still finding their way into new models today. Next, the midsole adds some sleek lines to the X9000, with targeted areas that show off extra Boost protruding from the sides, likely provide added support to the sides of your feet during even cuts and surfaces. The X9000L4 also shows off a unique color scheme, adding neon red, blue, and green accents to an otherwise all-black upper, and even some splashes of adidas’ color-changing Xeno tech across the raised areas of Boost.
