The adidas Originals Response CL made its debut early in 2020, modernizing 2003’s Response Cushion with a whole new look and feel. This month, the Three Stripes has refreshed the chunky runner with a new Light Grey colorway.

adidas Performance’s design language from the turn of the century may be a bit overstated and chunky for the modern market, but most sneakerheads hold a special place in their heart for that era. The early 2000s brought us some of the most interesting and important sneaker releases ever, through innovation and design alike. So, when the adidas team decides to take a trip down memory lane for some inspiration, we are not getting in their way. Such is the inspiration for the Response CL, a chunky lifestyle model heavily influenced by old Three Stripes silhouettes. This week, the runner surfaced in a new “Light Grey” color scheme, blanketing the shoe in a near-uniform pale grey tone, while darker shades are mixed in for a layered effect.

adidas Originals latest release of the Response CL, seen here in a smooth Cream/Grey color scheme, has not yet been announced for release, though a global drop is expected sometime in the coming weeks. The newly refined version of the Response CL will likely be available from both adidas and boutique retail partners, with a price tag of approximately $135.
