adidas Performance’s design language from the turn of the century may be a bit overstated and chunky for the modern market, but most sneakerheads hold a special place in their heart for that era. The early 2000s brought us some of the most interesting and important sneaker releases ever, through innovation and design alike. So, when the adidas team decides to take a trip down memory lane for some inspiration, we are not getting in their way. This season, the Originals team debuted the Response CL, a lifestyle model that takes heavy inspiration from the early aughts, a design language clearly visible through the sheer amount of layers and use of synthetic materials. After the success of the initial color schemes, the Response CL returns this week to take on a new look, beginning with plain white mesh base layers and white overlays. However, the shoe’s mid layers come in a dark navy blue, contrasting the bold Collegiate Orange accents that complete the look.

adidas Originals’ latest new silhouette, the Response CL, returns in a new “Collegiate Orange” colorway later this month, on October 23rd, 2020. The retro-inspired model will be up for grabs from both adidas and select retailers like SneakersNStuff, with a retail price tag of $119.
