The adidas PureBoost is back. After an interesting redesign in early 2017, the PureBoost line has struggled to regain its footing. Now, adidas has it back on the right track with the new Go silhouette, launching globally next week.

adidas’ PureBoost family has struggled in recent years. First, in 2016, the brand brought about radical new changes to the beloved silhouette, altering the upper to feature a new burrito-style tongue. Many fans were displeased with the new construction, finding it uncomfortable for long periods of time. Then, the Three Stripes tried to ground themselves with the DPR, another redesigned construction hoping to give more oomph to the PureBoost family.

The PureBoost Go is certainly an advancement for the running franchise, though it is no technological marvel. The new Go silhouette begins with a new knit upper built for flexibility. While adidas’ Primeknit technology is not used by name here, it can be assumed that the standard knit for the latest PureBoost will lie somewhere in the same realm. Next, key areas of the foot are reinforced by a webbing similar to Dellinger Web, which made a return to adidas footwear this year on the Deerupt. Finally, a simple ankle collar and strapped lacing system bring the Pureboost franchise back to its roots.
