The adidas Originals A-ZX project continues this month, with the new ZX 9000 “Yucatan”, inspired by premium moccasin slippers, taking up the ‘Y’ space on the A-ZX calendar.
adidas Originals revived the brand’s beloved A-ZX series last year, promising a total of twenty-six releases of ZX sneakers in special-edition versions and limited collaborations. So far, adidas is smashing these releases out of the park, and the next entry for February is another home run. Taking its inspiration from premium moccasin-style footwear, the ZX 9000 “Yucatan” is a beautifully luxurious take on the retro runner. The look begins with a solid black nubuck base layer for the ZX 9000, layered black suede and leather for a mix of textures and tones. The TPU heel cage has been swapped out in favor of more nubuck, while details like white stitching in the ‘Z’ and ‘X’ shapes mark each toe box. More contrast stitching can be found around the shoe, while an exposed-foam double tongue and cream white terry lining complete the ZX 9000 “Yucatan”.

The next entry in adidas Originals’ ongoing A-ZX series, the ZX 9000 “Yucatan”, was delayed last week just before its initial launch date, now slated to arrive in stores next week, on February 19th, 2021. The moccasin-inspired ZX 9000 comes with a price tag of $160 and will be available from both adidas and select retailers like The Darkside Initiative.
