The adidas ZX family has seen a resurgence in recent years, reviving some of our favorite vintage running shoes in new styles and colors. This week, we have an early look at a new ZX 9000 color scheme, coming next year.

The adidas ZX 9000 was a part of the ZX franchise’s original run of sneakers in the 1980s, revitalizing the Three Stripes’ running line with increasingly exciting releases. One of the first silhouettes to include adidas’ now-famous Torsion Bar, the underfoot system that allowed shoes to move and stretch in new ways, the ZX 9k quickly became one of the most popular models available from the German brand. Over the years, the ZX 9000 has only grown in popularity, as those who were there for its original run continue to remember it fondly. This has brought about some special retro releases of the shoe, like the upcoming “Spring”-like color scheme we are taking an early look at today. Originally releases in 2009, this pair features a white nylon upper with yellow mudguard and eyestay, pastel green stripes and heel counter, and a vibrant purple lining to complete the look.
