The adidas Originals’ “Fashion Basics” collection returns in 2021, this time offering up a host of new silhouettes cast in premium materials and a basic color scheme. This week, the vintage ZX 1000 joined the lineup of archival sneakers.
The adidas Originals “Fashion Basics” project began back in 2019, then known as the Home of Classics collection, a series of noteworthy adidas sneaker rehashed in premium materials, all united by a common color scheme. The idea was to shine a light on the quality and manufacturing of past Three Stripes models that are either sought-after retros or forgotten gems, like this week’s release of the ZX 1000. Reconstructed in smooth white leather with hints of vegetable-tanned portions strewn throughout, this “Fashion Basics” version echoes the other silhouettes in the collection, down to the listing of global sizes embossed on the outside of the shoe.
