adidas and Blondey McCoy first teamed up last year, to deliver the skate-turned-fashion-designer’s see-through take on the classic Superstar. Now, adidas has a clear plastic version of their own on shelves, coming soon to the United States.

The adidas Superstar celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, highlighting the shoe in dozens of special edition releases and collaborations in celebration. One of the featured versions was created in partnership with jack-of-all-trades Blondey McCoy, transforming the classic sneaker by swapping out the upper for an entirely translucent plastic layer. Now, it appears the Three Stripes have adopted this look for its own in-line products, like the new clear/white Superstar that debuted in the UK over the weekend. This model replaces the Superstar’s usual leather base layer with a thick layer of clear plastic, featuring perforations to keep the shoe breathable. The Superstar’s standard leather overlays are retained in full, and come in a flat white tone for this edition. The Superstar gold foil branding returns to the lateral sides of each shoe, replacing the Blondey wordmark used on his limited-edition pairs.
