adidas Originals celebrated an incredible fifty years of the classic Superstar sneaker last year, and now, the brand has introduced a new, futuristic take on the court shoe for 2021. Titled the SUperstar Futureshell, the new look adds translucent TPU around the entire shoe.
The adidas Superstar celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last year, with the Three Stripes dropping dozens of new and classic iterations for the special occasion. Now, adidas is following up the retro run of Superstars with something brand new for 2021, the Superstar Futureshell. While we are still waiting for an official announcement from adidas in the United States regarding the Futureshell, pairs have already landed overseas at the Warsaw Sneaker Store and are readily available for purchase. The Superstar Futureshell is most of what you might expect from a typical Superstar, with the addition of a translucent TPU layer wrapped around the entirety of the shoe, from heel to toe. The protective layer is molded to reflect the shapes of classic SUperstar paneling underneath, albeit taking some liberties in rounding the edges for a smoother, more modern look. The Superstar Futureshell also features a modernized color scheme, featuring a white base layer with accent colors in Coral orange and SKy blue.

adidas Originals’ latest iteration of the classic Superstar, the new Futureshell adaptation, is already available overseas from select retailers like Warsaw Sneaker Store, with a global release likely coming in the next few weeks. Featuring a protective outer layer, the SUperstar Futureshell will be available from both adidas and select retailers for approximately $134.
