adidas’ archives are filled to the brim with classic footwear, but none have been more important to the brand’s history than the Stan Smith or the SuperStar. Now, for the first time ever, the two are joining forces to create the SuperStan.
The adidas Originals team is kicking off the new decade with an exciting project. For over 40 years now, both the adidas Stan SMith and Superstar have dominated the footwear scenem from their origins as tennis and basketball shoes, respectively, to their modern day boom in popularity as lifestyle models. Now, the German sportswear brand is celebrating their heritage by combining the two legends to create the new SuperStan. Combining the best of both worlds, the SuperStan mounts the upper from Stan Smith’s signature model on top of one of basketbll’s most influential models, the SuperStar. The Superstar’s sole unit and solid rubber tongue provide sturdy support for the Stan, all while creating a brand new silhouette for the Three Stripes. The SuperStan will make its debut in the Stan Smith’s classic white and green color scheme this February.
ADIDAS ORIGINALS SUPERSTAN RELEASE INFORMATION
The adidas Originals SuperStan hybrid has been scheduled to release in the coming weeks on February 1st, 2020. The merging of the two icons comes with a retail price of $120, and will be available directly from adidas, as the list of secondary retailers has yet to be announced.
