adidas’ vintage archives are back with another interesting retro release, this time mixing elements of two silhouettes, the Jet and the Hoverturf, to create the new Shadowturf, a performance-driven lifestyle shoe, coming soon.
The adidas Originals Turf series began its strong run of releases back in 2018, with the release of the Consortium “Gardening” collection, the first place we saw the Three Stripes’ revived adiprene+ midsole in recent memory. Debuted as the Hoverturf, a shoe designed for high-performance gardening and other casual outdoor activities, adidas absolutely nailed the ‘sportstyle’ look that has grown so popular in recent years. Now, the Turf sneaker lineup has expanded dramatically, and features a range of new sneakers perfect for any kind of activity, the latest of which has already made its debut overseas. Titled the ShadowTurf, the new silhouette mixes in elements of an early-2000s model called the Jet, primarily taking that shoe’s ‘window’ design that takes over the quarter panels on each side. Seen here cast entirely in flat grey, the look is constructed from a mix of mesh and suede pieces for a durable design.
