adidas Originals’ run of retro-inspired sneakers has been pumping out heat for several years now. This week, that trend continues with the release of the new Response CL, which takes heavy inspiration from the early-2000s running shoes.
adidas Performance’s design language from the turn of the century may be a bit overstated and chunky for the modern market, but most sneakerheads hold a special place in their heart for that era. The early 2000s brought us some of the most interesting and important sneaker releases ever, through innovation and design alike. So, when the adidas team decides to take a trip down memory lane for some inspiration, we are not getting in their way. This week, the Originals team announced the release of the new Response CL, a lifestyle model that takes heavy inspiration from the early aughts, a design language clearly visible through the sheer amount of layers and use of synthetic materials. The Response CL will be available in two colorways at launch, one in an ode to the EQT line with green accents against a white and black base, while the second features minimal neon blue hints against white and black overlays.
