adidas archives treat us to some incredible silhouettes, when the Three Stripes deems it a good time to revive some of their classic models. This month, the New York trainer is receiving the retro treatment, debuting first in this bright “Taxi” themed look.
adidas Originals’ series of city-themed trainers has served as one of the brand’s main source of inspiration for decades now, either borrowing elements from various models, or simply rehashing beloved pairs to honor their namesake cities. This week, we got our first look at an upcoming re-release of an archival model, bringing back the fan-favorite New York silhouette for 2021. Debuted overseas from Aphrodite, the adidas New York looks to make a return this year, starting off with this eye-catching “Taxi” colorway. Built from a nylon base layer with suede overlays, the “Taxi” look paints the New York exactly as you might expect, in an all-over golden yellow tone, with black stripes and a black heel counter, mimicking the look of real-life NYC taxi cabs.
