adidas’ 4D technology has come a long way since it was first unveiled in 2016, now available on a wide variety of product categories. This week, we have an early look at the latest upcoming addition to the brand’s lineup, the adidas IIM 4D.

adidas’ advanced 4D midsoles have been growing more and more attainable this year, as the Three Stripes continue to create more new silhouettes and pairs of each with every release. This week, we have an early look at two colorways of the next installment in the growing 4D family, thanks to some on-foot images from sneaker leaker YankeeKicks. Sharing two colorways via their IG page, we have a good look at the construction of the new silhouette, which incorporates some eye-catching innovations from adidas. The new IIM 4D begins with a Primeknit upper constructed from a dense knit and featuring targeted support for more stability around the midfoot, heels, and mudguard, while areas like the toebox remain open and loose. The collar of the shoe is knit similarly to a sock, and separate into two separate layers to create a bootie-like fit. The adidas IIM 4D features a brand new printed tooling underfoot, changing up the standard lattice for one with improved structure and shape. Additionally, the tooling is attached to the upper via a wide taped rubber overlay, giving the look of a cupsole mounted on top. However, one of the two leaked colorways features this rubber layer as translucent, showing the rest of the 4D lattice underneath.
