The adidas NMD first launched in December 2015, in a handful of extremely limited colorways before a wider debut in 2016. Now, adidas is ready to celebrate five years of the fan-favorite runner, kicking things off with the “Anniversary” pack of remixed fan-favorite releases.

The adidas NMD anniversary celebration has been in our sights since early last year. While 2020 was ‘technically’ the anniversary of the beloved runner, (the initial releases came out in December 2015, but were nearly impossible to get due to limited numbers and F&F pairs) it wasn’t until 2016 that NMDs became available to the population at large. So, five years out from an unprecedented run of popularity, adidas has remixed some of the most beloved colorways of the early NMD era to celebrate the now-classic Three Stripes model. This pack takes the form of the adidas NMD_R1 Primeknit, the gold standard in the NMD family, thanks to its combination of the best technologies adidas had to offer in 2015. Each colorway is directly inspired by one of 2016’s hottest releases, like Pharrell’s Hu NMD line with the bright yellow pair, SneakersNStuff’s reversed-Primeknit “Datamosh” pack in pink, green, and grey, and finally, Nice Kicks’ “Tie-Dye” NMD celebrating San Francisco, this time in black with orange and blue accents.

adidas Originals celebration of the NMD finally kicks off next week, on January 13th, 2021, with the release of the three-piece “Anniversary” pack. Featuring three beloved styles reworked and recolored, pairs will be available from both adidas and select global retailers like END. Clothing, with the usual price tag of $180 attached. Check out the official images below for a better look at all three special-edition colorways, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more adidas release news.
