The adidas NMD franchise has taken a step back from the limelight in recent years, as adidas forges onward with new technologies, silhouettes, and ideas. However, the influence and change that the NMD_R1 brought for the German sportswear brand cannot be denied, and this year, NMD is celebrating five years on retail shelves. To celebrate this special occasion, the team at adidas Originals has whipped up a fresh take on the NMD_R1’s classic black, red, and blue color scheme. For this release, the entirety of the NMD_R1’s mesh upper comes in black, including the rubber heel counter, lacing system, and signature Three Stripes. The midsole is divided into two, with the forefoot in black and the heel in red. The EVA plugs built into the sole come in a vibrant blue tone, whole a white rubber outsole completes the look.

adidas’ interesting new spin on their original colorway of the NMD_R1 is scheduled to hit shelves on March 1st, 2020.
