The adidas NMD_R1 is constantly coming out in new iterations and new colorways, always giving the fans something new. This month, the standard R1 is dressed in a simple new color scheme with some strange new blocking.

The adidas NMD franchise is constantly going through evolutions, changing into new forms and colorways routinely. Since it’s launch in 2015, the lifestyle silhouette has released in hundreds of color schemes spread over half a dozen unique styles. This year, however, adidas is sticking with the original NMD_R1, changing things up with every release for a wild new look. The latest new look to surface on the internet pits the standard R1 in a triple-white color scheme, albeit with a new twist. Instead of adding small pops of color around the shoe, the Three Stripes design team instead took some clean black taping and placed it around the silhouette in varying layers. One piece is layered underneath the heel counter, while another is seen just above the rear EVA midsole pod. Additionally, one small piece stretches across the top of the toe box. It is currently unclear if these new additions have a functional purpose for the shoe, though adidas will likely acknowledge this when the shoes drop.

The latest adidas NMD_R1 has surfaced online without any preliminary release information. The color blocked look will likely retail for the NMD’s standard $130 price point from both adidas and select retailers.
