The adidas NMD family has been a staple of the originals category since its debut in 2015. Since then, the ubiquitous silhouette has made its mark all over the world, though apparently has made quite a name in Japan, if all the themed releases are any indication.
The adidas NMD has released in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors since its debut back in 2015. While many of them were exclusive or limited releases, one version of the NMD_R1 stands above the rest as the best selling: the Japan edition. The “Japan” NMD_R1s were first released back in 2015, alongside the original run of the shoe, before being adapted to just about every subsequent NMD silhouette in the following years. The theme continues into 2019 too, as we have already seen several minimal color schemes featuring the adidas Originals motto predominantly in Japanese. Next month, the Three Stripes will continue the line of Japan-themed NMD’s this time revamping the silhouette with a few extra features to complete the look. First, the signature NMD heel counter features a layer of protective taping underneath in red, while the rear EVA block sees the same treatment in blue. These colors are the same exact tones as were used on the original NMD colorways, giving the new pairs some historical significance. Additionally, the forefoot of the Boost midsoles features black or white striping depending on which color the midsole is.
ADIDAS NMD_R1 “LUSH BLUE” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION
adidas’ latest Japan-themed trio of the NMD_R1 is scheduled to release on April 1st, 2019, in both adults and kids sizing. Each NMD will retail for the usual $130, and likely release from both adidas and select retailers.
