The adidas hybrid series is finally upon us. First leaked much earlier this year, the new collection will include old school adidas models bound to the NMD_R1 sole. First up, the Micropacer R1 drops next month.

The adidas Micropacer is a legendary sneaker. First developed in the early 1980’s, the silhouette gained its fame due to the computer built into the tongue. Used to track speed, steps, and distance, the onboard pedometer was unlike anything the running community had ever seen before, and the excitement surrounding a computer-sneaker was momentous. Soon enough, the Micropacer was a part of adidas legacy, and this year, they are revisiting one of their most pivotal moments. With the release of the Futurepacer this summer, the Three Stripes bought the 80’s silhouette into the modern age. Now, adidas is ready to combine the original silhouette with one of the shoes it inspired, the NMD_R1. For this adidas Hybrid release, the two shoes have been grafted together perfectly. The smooth leather upper of the Micropacer has been lifted from its EVA midsole and replaced entirely by Boost with the NMD’s signature midfoot bricks for stability.
