adidas has unveiled a new reissue of a classic sneaker this week; the Jabbar OG. Originally designed for Kareem Abdul Jabbar in 1978, the milestone sneaker returns this week in both Hi and Lo formats.
adidas made waves with their original release of the Jabbar sneaker back in 1978. While the model was not the first signature shoe in the sporting world, it was the first to feature an athlete’s face prominently displayed on the silhouette. They would follow this up by adding Stan Smith’s face to his eponymous sneaker some time later, a design that persists to this day.
This week, the Three Stripes announced an official rerelease of the classic Jabbar. Arriving in just a few days, the release reconstructs the shoe to its exact specifications from the late ’70s, and brings both the Hi and Lo-top versions of the shoe back to shelves. For this debut, they have colored each shoe in a simple Collegiate Royal blue color scheme, which pits the leather upper in white and cream with the bold blue shade for the stripes and heels.

adidas’ retro of their classic Jabbar basketball shoe has been scheduled to release this week, on October 18th, 2024. Featuring both Hi and Lo styles of the simple silhouette, the white and royal blue pairs will be available through the brand’s Confirmed app for $100-$110.
