The adidas Futurecraft initiative first made its debut in 2018, released to the public for the very first time in the simple black and green color scheme seen here. Now, the Futurecraft 4D OG is back, set to return later this year in its original format.
adidas 4D technology has come a long way since its first public launch early in 2018. First, they dropped the Futurecraft name, which at the time referred to the brand’s printed midsole operations as a whole, including other innovations like recyclable bio-fabric uppers and 3D-printed filament midsoles. Above all else, the 4D lattice system created in partnership with Marin’s Carbon 3D has lead the pack in terms of performance and style, taking hold over adidas fans almost immediately upon release thanks to its unique look and impressive wearability. As the Three Stripes continue to innovate and iterate on the printed midsoles, some of us are still pining for a chance to own the original Futurecraft 4D, a wish that adidas is getting ready to grant this Spring with a re-release of the original 4D runner. Featuring the same black Primeknit upper and ghostly green 4D midsole that launched a franchise in 2018, the Futurecraft runner has now surfaced on adidas’ internal release calendars for a drop sometime this year.
