The adidas Deerupt fell somewhat flat upon initial release. However, that has never stopped adidas from going back to the drawing board for a wildly new look. Check out the new Deerupt S, hitting stores next month.

The adidas Deerupt was not exactly the most exciting shoe of 2018. Launched early in the year, adidas’ marketing strategy made it fairly clear that they thought the Deerupt was a massive hit. Unfortunately, this bet didn’t entirely pay off. While the sleek runner did find popularity as a casual sneaker, the Deerupt’s inability to connect with the sneaker community at large ultimately led to its downfall. adidas, however, unperturbed, has returned to the drawing table for a new take on the Deerupt. With a new S subtitle, the reworked silhouette is back with a vengeance.

The adidas Deerupt S is pretty wild. Despite taking clear inspiration from the original, the new shape still features an abundance of pieces seemingly pulled from Pharrell’s Hu line, namely the Hu Tennis and Hu NMD. The body of the Deerupt S looks similar to that of the Hu NMD, while the hidden lacing system and suede patches are more reminiscent of the Tennis Hu line. The silhouette features the same all-over Dellinger web as the original, although the sidewalls are now supported by a second layer that imitates a shank overlay. The initial colorway of the adidas Deerupt S appears to be coming in plain black and white, though more bright options are likely to surface soon.

adidas’ new take on the Deerupt, subtitled S, is scheduled to launch on February 28th, 2019. Very little is known about the shoes currently, though their retail price is expected to be above the original Deerupt’s $100 price tag. Pairs will almost definitely launch from both adidas and select retailers. Check out the official images below for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more adidas release news.
