adidas’ Consortium division has remained relatively quiet in 2020, save for the occasional collaborative release. However, this month the brand’s advanced design team has a brand new silhouette they’ve been working on, mixing trail inspiration retro tech for the FYW Secant.

adidas Consortium’s been having a slow year, and we don’t blame them. Thanks to the pandemic, they likely had to cancel or delay some of their planned releases for the year, leaving a gap in the brand’s overall offerings for the year. Luckily for us, the Consortium team has been hard at work over the past year on a brand new silhouette, the FYW Secant, and it is finally ready for our feet this week. Inspired by trail running shoes, the Secant begins with a ripstop nylon base layer for the upper, reinforced by a suede mudguard at the toe of the shoe. The new silhouette features an inner-booty style tongue system, which appears to be constructed from a mix of nylon and neoprene for a more conforming fit. Mounted on top of a Feet you Wear (FYW) midsole with a rugged rubber outsole, the Secant is available in a Hyper Pop green or the fan-favorite Semi-Frozen yellow tone.
