The adidas A-ZX project is picking up this week, continuing in 2021 where it left off a few weeks ago. This month, adidas is paying tribute to the French city of Lyon, where Jacquard weave techniques were invented. Check out the ZX 5000 “Vieux Lyon”, coming soon.
The adidas A-ZX project kicked off in Summer 2020, bringing back a decades-old series of releases taking inspiration from anything and everything surrounding the designers. The first release of 2021 features the classic ZX 5000 silhouette, this time paying tribute to the invention of Jacquard weave techniques in Lyon, France, with the limited-edition “Vieux Lyon” release. This pair transforms the ZX 5000, rebuilding the vintage shoe with a floral Jacquard upper, split between the shoe’s deep purple upper half and lilac lower portions, while a ceramic white midsole keeps the focus on the textiles. Two-tone Three Stripes stand out on either side, while small nods to the French flag pop up elsewhere around the shoe.

adidas Originals’ next entry in the ongoing A-ZX campaign, and the first of 2021, has been scheduled to release later this week, on January 8th, 2021. The “Vieux Lyon” jacquard ZX 5000 will launch from both adidas and select retailers like Hanon with a price tag of $140.
