Nike and Travis Scott had a big weekend in Las Vegas. The two took over ComplexCon with new releases and an entire museum dedicated to La Flame’s history with the Swoosh. Among the surprises was a look at several development samples of an unreleased sneaker.
When you look at the entire timeline of Travis Scott’s history with Nike as a whole, it becomes clear that he is one of the most prolific collaborators to have ever worked with the Swoosh, outside of signature athletes. Jordan, LeBron, and Kobe all have their own thing going, but Travis Scott has over two dozen releases under his belt, between Nike and Jordan. There have been so many releases, they dedicated an entire museum section to his work at ComplexCon this year.
The TS museum showed off nearly every piece of Travis’ work with Nike and Jordan over the years in one place. Every piece of apparel and merch he’s released, as well as clothing he’s worn on stage were present, and the array of goods was staggering. In addition to showcasing all of this history, their timeline of sneaker releases included some looks at upcoming styles, like the “Limelight” Zoom Field Jaxx. However, this was not the most surprising unveiling of the event.
The TS x Nike museum also showcased a handful of development samples from the process of creating his two new signature shoes; the Jordan Jumpman Jack and the Zoom Field Jaxx. The samples on display do not clearly represent either model, though they do bear a close resemblance to the Jumpman silhouette. However, this style appears to have been conceived with a 3/4 height in mind, like the Mac Attack, and the first sample pass shares a similar construction to that ’80s trainer. Moving down the line you can see the shoe’s paneling start to take shape, with the midsole getting fine tuned and overlays getting more unique shapes.
Currently, it is unclear if these samples displayed are a new shoe in the works from Scott and Nike, or just a behind-the-scenes look at their process. The presence of the Jumpman on the tongues indicates this is a relative of the Jumpman Jack, and possibly a successor, but they did not share any further info over the weekend.
