Saucony’s penchant for reviving vintage sneakers is one of the best things happening in the footwear world right now. This month, the Originals team takes another crack at the vintage Aya runner in a light blue color scheme, available now.

Born in 1994, the Saucony Aya was originally designed to perform during the lengthy running portions of triathlons. Constructed from a variety of materials including leather, mesh, and nylon, the Aya’s extremely lightweight build and layered look made them a hot commodity amongst runners at the time. Now, the team behind Saucony Originals is reviving the vintage runner for the modern market. The latest colorway of the Aya to hit retail shelves features a relatively basic color palette executed with precision and attention to detail. The Aya’s nylon base layer is dyed in a vibrant blue tone, with white faux-leather overlays reinforcing the toe cap and heel counter. The inner lining, Saucony logo, and laces come in a lighter shade of blue than the rest of the show, adding some texture to the various layers.
