The Nike Air Superfly Retro in “Lab Green” Arrives in January

Nike is all about their archival catalog right now. The brand has revived a wide range of running shoes from the turn of the century. Next year, the Air Superfly joins that list, coming in January.

Nike has spent the last few years revamping some iconic silhouettes from their history. However, they have also revived a number of somewhat forgotten models, particularly experimental running shoes from the late ’90s and early ’00s. The Air Max Sunder is one of these shoes that have seen plenty of success, and now they are ready to give the Air Superfly a shot.

The Air Superfly is an early 2000s model designed as an ultralight, breathable, a minimal running shoe. The upper is made to morph to fit your feet, and features perforations all the way from toe to heel to keep air moving through. The sole uses encapsulated Air bubbles with a sculpted, sleek look. The Superfly is now confirmed for a release early next year, and among its launch colorways is a “Lab Green” style, paired with dark baroque brown.

Nike’s releases for early 2025 are starting to stack up, with a wide range of models and colors landing soon. Among them is an excellent new pair of the Dunk Low, dressed in a mix of Violet Ore and Cave Stone colors.

Nike will continue their long string of new styles for the Dunk Low in 2025. The silhouette was once one of the most sought-after and limited shoes in the Swoosh’s catalog, despite its standing as one of the most beloved models by sneakerheads. Since 2020, the model has finally been widely available, with hundreds of colors available for anyone’s style.

Despite the Nike Dunk’s wide availability and massive range of colors over the last four years, Nike still has some hits on their hands coming in 2025. This week, we have an eary look at a new “Cave Stone” colorway for the classic model, which pits leather and suede against each other in contrasting colors. The shoe’s leather base comes in a soft Platinum Violet shade of purple, with suede overlays in a dark “Cave Stone” brown color.

The new year always brings us annual sneaker collections themed around Lunar New Year, typically taking the new zodiac animal as inspiration. This week, another Nike shoe has surfaced for their collection, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Year of the Snake”.

With the annual release of Chinese New Year’s sneakers coming up in the next few months, pairs from different brands have already started to emerge in leaks. Nike’s collection is always one we look forward to, as these projects typically make use of iconic silhouettes and add plenty of wild and interesting new details. This week, the Air Jordan 1 Low has surfaced as a part of this year’s project, coming soon.

This year’s Lunar New Year style of the Air Jordan 1 Low brings some snakeskin-inspired materials to the iconic silhouette. The shoe features a simple grey and white color scheme, with a white leather base and grey outer panels. The tongues and Swooshes come with a ripstop textured finish, while an iridescent wings logo on the heels completes the look.

January is almost here, and with it comes the annual Lunar New Year celebration, and accompanying sneaker collections. Nike’s Year of the Snake project will feature a premium edition of the Dunk Low, coming soon.

The Lunar New Year holiday is coming up early next year, falling on January 29th, 2025. Each year brings us a variety of new sneaker releases themed around the Zodiac animal for that lunar cycle, and 2025 will be the Year of the Snake. We’ve already seen a small assortment of pairs pop up from Nike, including the Air Force 1 and Jordan 11, and now another classic silhouette has joined the series.

The Dunk Low returns to the Lunar collection this year, marking another special-edition release of the iconic low-top silhouette. For this year’s project, the shoe takes on an olive green leather base paired with off-white overlays. Snakeskin tongue tabs add a bit of flare to this style, as well as pastel green Swooshes with a red zig-zag stitch, and a brown mini Swoosh embroidered at the toes.

JJJJound and New Balance currently have multiple projects in the works as of this week. Today, the Montreal brand shared an early look at their next pair of the 2002R GTX, dressing the shoe in a triple black build.

JJJJound has become prolific in their sneaker collaborations, releasing multiple projects with their various brand partners every year. New Balance remains their most frequent collaborator, having released the most shoes with them since their debut in 2018. This week, the Canadian apparel brand has teased another release, returning to the 2002R Gore-Tex they first dropped this past February.

The next pair of JJJJound’s take on the 2002R GTX is more simple than their previous two-pack, which features a pine green & black as well as a grey & black style. This time around, they have opted for a triple-black color palette, ditching the suede outer layer for supple leather instead. The collars and heel cushioning feature a flash of blue, while JJJJ branding on the toggle laces complete the look.

JJJJound has not yet announced the release of their latest pair of New Balance’s 2002R Gore-Tex yet, but we expect them to release sometime in the coming weeks. This year New Balance introduced a wild new take on their popular 1906 model, a loafer variant. The shoe has been fairly divisive since it first leaked online ahead of its debut, but continues to arrive in new styles like this “Dark Juniper” look.

The 1906L is one of the most talked-about new sneakers to launch in 2024. The New Balance model is a vast departure from their usual variants on the 1906 silhouette, and a highly unusual first from the Boston running shoe brand. The model slims down the retro runner into a slip-on, removing the laces in favor of a penny-loafer style panel across the midfoot sections.

This week, the 1906L returns in a fresh colorway for the new year, and a stunning color palette at that. Dubbed “Dark Juniper”, the pair starts with a muted green shade for its mesh base. Synthetic overlays are added in a mix of dark grey and metallic silver, while just a hint of navy blue decorates the collars and tongue bands.

After their first release of the Air Max Sunder retro this Fall, Nike unveiled a Gore-Tex-line pack featuring three colorways. This week, we finally have a release date for the final pair in the collection, “Bold Berry”, coming in January.

This year Nike finally revived the Air Max Sunder, an early-2000s running shoe that has been a sought-after vintage style in recent years. They first rolled out the shoe in some classic neon color schemes, and quickly followed up with a three-piece Gore-Tex pack. The first two pairs from that collection released in October, and we’ve been patiently waiting for the third and final look.

This week, a release date and official photos for the “Bold Berry” Sunder GTX finally arrived. Scheduled to drop early in January, the final piece of the Gore-Tex edition comes in its most vivid color yet. The upper’s outer layer is cast in a rich purple shade, with black outlining the rest of the silhouette.

Every January, footwear brand celebrate Lunar New Year with a collection of their best sneakers. This week, New Balance has unveiled their 2025 offerings, which include the 1000, 1906R, 740, and WRPD Runner.

Lunar New Year sneaker collections are getting their official unveilings from brands this week, showing off their annual projects before they arrive on shelves later this month. Most companies have gone with the “Year of the Snake” zodiac calendar theme, but New Balance has once again gone for a more understated look, dressing an array of sneakers in simple neutral color schemes.

New Balance’s offerings for this year’s Lunar New Year celebration come in a wide range of styles. Their collection includes the retro 1000, 1906R, and 740, as well as two pairs of the more recent WRPD Runner silhouette. The project as a whole is a gradient, starting off with an all-black pair of the 1000. Next is greyed-out looks for the WRPD Runner and 1906R, followed by crisp white styles of the WRPD and 740 to complete the collection.

New Balance is still hot on their 991v2, an update to the 2001 runner that premiered at the end of 2023. Now, they are starting off the new year with a fresh colorway, dropping the “Cuban Sand” pair ahead of the sunnier days it is inspired by.

The 991v2 from New Balance is the latest update in a long line of different iterations on classic 990 sneakers. Introduced late in 2023 on the heels of the 990v6, the new model updates a running shoe originally released in the ’90s, adjusting some panels for a more modern look.

This week, another pair from the brand’s Made in UK program has started to land on shelves, bringing a refreshing Spring look to the silhouette ahead of brighter days. This pair comes in a “Cuban Sand” shade of cream, which makes up the mesh base and nubuck outer layers. Accent panels are added in a soft purple “Harbor Mist” color to complete the look.

Nike’s first-ever retro release of the Air Max TL 2.5 finally arrived this season, rolling out some OG color schemes from the late 2000s. New styles for 2025 have started to pop up, now including a fresh white & green edition.

Nike is all-in on their retro Air Max releases this year, reviving two models that have gained immense popularity in the two-plus decades since their debuts. The Sunder was a highly anticipated release that launched this Summer, followed by the 2006 TL 2.5, one of the last additions to the brand’s Total Air family. The latter is still in its initial rollout phase right now, with only a couple colors on the market at the moment.

However, Nike appears to have bigger plans for the TL in 2025, with a number of colorways for the new year having surfaced in recent months. This week, another new style joins the burgeoning line, with a fresh white & green look. This pair used a white mesh base for the upper, while the lower half comes in light grey with a black cage overlay. Bright green accents appear on the Swooshes as well as coloring the sole’s Air bags.

Toy Story’s Woody Gets His Own adidas Samba in 2025

adidas has another range of character-inspired sneakers coming in Spring 2025. This time, they’ve teamed up with Pixar’s Toy Story franchise, and will include a pair of the Samba OG inspired by Woody’s classic outfit.

adidas has become a powerhouse for creating sneakers based on beloved IP characters across a range of media brands. Their first foray was with Star Wars back in 2010, but has since evolved to include characters from game of Thrones, Marvel, and the entire Disney catalog for the “Green”-themed series. Now, Pixar’s beloved Toy Story is taking their turn, with a range of shoes coming in 2025.

The first pair to emerge from the new Toy Story x adidas collection features Woody, one of the main characters from the iconic franchise. Woody’s sneaker is the Samba, which features a rich brown leather base with denim stripes, cow fur heels, and his plaid shirt pattern for the inner lining. The only thing missing from this pair is Andy’s name scribbled across one of the shoe’s soles.

The upcoming project pairing Toy Story with adidas sneakers has not been announced yet, but is expected to release in April 2025. Featuring a pair of the Samba OG for Woody the cowboy, pairs will be available from both adidas and select retailers next Spring.
