New Balance is still hot on their 991v2, an update to the 2001 runner that premiered at the end of 2023. Now, they are starting off the new year with a fresh colorway, dropping the “Cuban Sand” pair ahead of the sunnier days it is inspired by.
The 991v2 from New Balance is the latest update in a long line of different iterations on classic 990 sneakers. Introduced late in 2023 on the heels of the 990v6, the new model updates a running shoe originally released in the ’90s, adjusting some panels for a more modern look.
This week, another pair from the brand’s Made in UK program has started to land on shelves, bringing a refreshing Spring look to the silhouette ahead of brighter days. This pair comes in a “Cuban Sand” shade of cream, which makes up the mesh base and nubuck outer layers. Accent panels are added in a soft purple “Harbor Mist” color to complete the look.

New Balance’s latest style of their Made in UK 991v2 has not been given a global release date yet, but is already available from some overseas retailers like Shoe Chapter. The soft “Cuban Sand” colorway is expected to get a stateside release soon, and will come with a price tag of $250.
